A new start? or something like that

Hi there!

How 're you doing? Okay, so here's the deal: I want to find out if I like some things and if I do I need to get better with it. 

"So what are you talking about then?" you might ask. Well... I've always followed things from CreativeApplications.net and the interactive physical prototypes sometimes presented at NotCot.org, and I think I want to do things like these, but I still need to find out. I had already a little taste and it tasted really good, so now I want to see if I like the complete dish.

"But why now?" Because I found out that I'm never really focused on one subject but always pass through some subjects every week. And this doesn't really help me with finding something i might be good in. So now i've found this subject that i want to explore.

"What do you want to explore?" Some programs and projects that I've found or thought of. I've found programs like vvvv and Processing which i want to find out, and also I would like to start experimenting with and Arduino.

Arduino

"An Arduino you say?" Yeah! a great piece of technology that I happen to be able to borrow from some really cool people.

"So what now?" I'll post a post every week with a new experiment, thinking process, concept, update on my improvements.

Chair and House

Ok, I finished everything! The chair that I worked on with a team is finished and my design project is finished! I wish I had more photos of my chair because I found out I miss some stages, but in the mean time this has happened:

After putting layers of fiberglass on the mold we let it dry and we cut the fiberglass to take the mold out. Then we worked on bending some wood to make the seat and the supports of the seat.

To get the surface of the fiberglass smooth we put filling material to fill in the gaps and then we sanded.

We lacquered the seat.

We painted the chair.


This is the A0 poster i needed to make for my design project. It had to be self-explanatory (is this a word? :) ) so if you have any questions just ask :P.

Gerês

Another trip was to Gerês. This is a nature park in the north of Portugal and also a bit in Spain. we went by car and on the first day we ended in Nazare.

On the way to Gerês we also stopped to see Bom Jesus.

Almost at Gerês so time to stop and think about our addictions: Bica, Galao, Meia leite, Peanuts and cookies!!!

Madeira

Okay, a long long long long long tima ago (about a month or two) two friends and me took a plane to a Portugese island Madeira (wood in portugese). This is a small report of it :).

But Oh No!!!! The wheater above Madeira is to bad, so we need to fly back to Lisboa! Oh no!!!! our vacation is ruined!!

But luckily for us Easyjet decided to give a four star (!!!!) hotel with complementary lunch and diner! Awesome ! :)

Okay so the four star hotel was nice and all but we wanted to go to this beautifull island so we tried to go to Madeira the following day.

The famous fruit market of Madeira, where you can eat bananas that taste like mango, mangos that taste like apple and oranges that taste anything you want! I felt like Harry Potter!

On our trip to the highest point of the Madeira we needed to try to drink at least some water of one of the waterfalls! With succes! :)

On the desert side of the island we found some really big beautiful rocks. For scale: it's me there on the right!

A famous Lavada (water path) of Madeira was called the 25 Fontes (25 waterfalls) and this is the end, a really long waterfall surrounded by a lot of small ones... To difficult to put on camera :(.

All a bit sad to leave.

Mokka Pot?

Hi there!

Long time no see! I still need to write about a lot! trip to madeira, trip to Geres, school, finished projects and so on, but because I'm still busy with my last project, and with some of my friends leaving I need to spend my time on that.

But just a little something in the middle:

Because my and Monk-EHs beloved Mokka pot has passed away!



I made coffee, but after a while I forgot! (didn't have my coffee yet :P) and after half an hour, the handle was in a puddle on the stofe burning away with black smoke. (Too bad I didn't have time to take a picture, it was magnificent!)



So we were both really sad.

Untill... One of my roommates pointed out that we still have another coffee maker! yeah! So now we are back and running again! (Although I need to figure out how not to put too much coffee in it, today I was really bouncing! (Which you can see a little in the photos :)))

Not much to say, I've been busy with project and the chair.

Quicky

Okay, maybe I should just accept the fact that my average time to post is 2 weeks. Not a lot of things happend these two weeks (it rained, I got wet, I got to classes, the sun shone, I went to beach, I got burned). But there was a visit from my old home!

I just started taking pictures when he went away, so that's way it looks like he always wore the same clothes :P.

I have also been working on school! Yeah, I work... Earlier I said I was working with a group on a chair made of glassfiber. And now I actually have a picture! (I forgot to change the battery so that's why just 1 picture...)

The chair, the colours are from the siliconpaper which makes sure that the glassfiber lets loose, and Luis, one of the project group.

Also! I needed to make a blog for one of the drawing classes, to post a drawing every day! so that will be on:
